Cadabra has been many years in the making, even if we didn't quite know this at the start. Our founders have worked with Executives in some of Australia's largest companies, consulting in what many would consider to be the very unsexy field of executive and senior leader incentive schemes.
What we found in even the most well resourced organisations were inefficiencies at every step of the scorecard journey - from drafting and approving scorecards through to results assessment. The amount of time and resources dedicated to what we call 'scorecard hygiene' (the mechanics) means leaders usually give little to no attention to the task of operationalising their scorecards and using them to drive better organisational results.
This gives rise to the scorecard trap. Our boards and shareholders demand scorecards (we even report on them in our annual reports), and in theory linking variable reward to better organisational results makes perfect sense. In practice, the all important role of scorecards as a motivator and 'true north' is lost in the effort involved in scorecard hygiene. As a result, team members don't necessarily understand the connection between performance and variable reward, and organisations are getting poor value for their variable reward investment.
Cadabra was built to break this cycle and avoid the scorecard trap. It has been designed to take care of scorecard hygiene by delivering a seamless experience for all stakeholders, ensuring robust audit trails and data integrity, and facilitating the team member experience to make each scorecard relevant and actionable.
